Biography

Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering Kathmandu University, Nepal

 

Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha is a distinguished academic and scientist currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Kathmandu University, Nepal. He also holds the positions of Associate Director of the University’s Information Technology Center and Lead Researcher of its IoT R&D Lab. With over 24 years of integrated experience spanning academia, industry, and high-level national consultancy, Prof. Jha has made substantial contributions to the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and Neutrosophic Systems. As a Senior Member of IEEE, his leadership encompasses pioneering work in Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) and Small Language Modeling (SLM). Recently, Professor Jha is appointed as a member of the National Planning Commission of the Government of Nepal.

A prolific researcher, Prof. Jha has published 100+ SCI/SCIE/Scopus-indexed journal articles and book chapters, secured three patents, and authored/edited 12 internationally acclaimed books with leading publishers such as Elsevier, CRC Press, AAP, and IGI Global. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Engineering Issues and Solutions, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Nepal Engineers’ Association, and has contributed as Guest Editor to several other internationally indexed journals. His research expertise has attracted international funding and positioned him as a thought leader on AI-IoT integration and Quality of Service (QoS) in complex systems.

Prof. Jha’s scientific influence extends beyond academia. He was listed among the world’s Top 2% Scientists by Elsevier in 2025 and is ranked as Nepal’s #1 Scientist in both Engineering & Technology and Computer Science by the AD Scientific Index (2026 edition). He is also a recipient of the NAST Technology Award 2082 B.S. His advisory role in drafting Nepal’s National AI Policy 2081 underscores his impact on national-level digital and cybersecurity strategy. A celebrated keynote speaker, he has delivered over 100 invited lectures across global platforms and holds advanced certifications in Microservices Architecture, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
