Title of the Invited Talk: Assessment Practices in Engineering Education: A Transnational Education Programme Perspective
Abstract: In a rapidly changing global engineering education landscape, Transnational Education (TNE) programmes play a pivotal role in cross border exchange of good practices in higher education and assessment. TNE programmes involve institutions collaborating across countries, offering engineering degrees to students in diverse cultural, social, and educational context. Assessment in engineering education within transnational programmes requires a delicate balance between global standards and local contexts. Maintaining fairness and consistency among degree programmes delivered in diverse cultural and education settings remains a major challenge as both teaching methods and learning styles vary among the countries involved in the programmes. This is exacerbated by the varying needs of the local and global industries. This invited talk addresses the unique challenges and innovative approaches required for effective assessment in engineering TNE programmes. We will discuss effective assessment practices which ensure accreditation requirements, quality enhancement and excellence in degree programmes. We will also explore how various learning technologies can greatly enhance the assessment and feedback practices in engineering degree programmes.
