Title of the Invited Talk: Recent advancement of plasma technology in agriculture, NOx synthesis, and industrial wastewater
Abstract: The demand of food is sharply increasing due to increased population worldwide. The arable lands are enormously decreasing, mainly in Bangladesh, due to increasing industry, urbanization, river erosion, and land sliding. Bangladesh is facing detrimental challenges from drought, salinity, cyclones because of climate change. Conventional technologies, such as expensive biotechnology and chemical fertilizer management, become saturated and thereby new technological approach should be adopted. Ammonia (NH3) is manufactured by the well-known Haber-Bosch (HB) technology through emission of 3×10 8 metric tons of CO2 in the environment worldwide that is mainly responsible for the greenhouse effect. Ecofriendly technology is an urgent issue for the reduction of CO2 emission for the synthesis of NH3 or NOx. Besides, ~217Mm 3 of industrial wastewater is discharged each year in Bangladesh from different process industries, such as textile, tannery, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries, and subsequently polluting natural water resources and destroying biodiversity. Conventional effluent treatment plant (ETP) fails, in most cases, to reduce effluents from the industrial wastewater because of its complex nature. Therefore, a new technology is a burning issue to address the reduction of effluents from the industrial wastewater. Considering the above issues considered herein, enhancement of crop yield, reduction of CO2 emission and industrial wastewater effluents, development of ecofriendly plasma technology might help us in addressing the concerned problems.
